Show Candidates come out of nooduork on last day Most of the state and national na-tional candidates have been on the campaign trail for months, but locally, candidates candi-dates have been few and far between. However, Monday's filing brought out four more to give Beaver County a Primary Pri-mary race for the 4-year seat and at least two candidates candi-dates for the 2-year term on the county commission. Howard Pryor, the cow-town cow-town merchant, filed on the Democratic ticket for the 2 -year term and Phyllis Truman filed on the Republican Repub-lican ticket. For the 4-year term, only Chad Johnson, Democrat, and Paul Coston, Sr., Independent, Inde-pendent, had filed before Monday, but then Evan Patterson Pat-terson filed to oppose Johnson John-son in the Primary and Allan Al-lan Hutchings and William O. "Bill" Cox filed on the Republican Re-publican ticket, so both parties par-ties will have a race in the Primary. A rash of candidates have filed for the state -wide races of Governor, Lt. GovSec. of State, Auditor, Treasurer, and Attorney General. For the State Senate, District Dis-trict 29, are Ivan Matheson, Iron County Commissioner, and Sid Atkin, St. George. Both are Republicans. For State Representative, Piute, Sevier and Beaver Counties, there's a whole army of challengers for incumbent in-cumbent Demo. Dwaine Washburn. All are from Sevier Se-vier County. Mass meetings are the next order of business for the candidates, and all party faithful are urged to get into the act next Monday at their respective precinct meetings. |
