Show VA Plans Aid for War-Blinded Vets A survey aimed at helping war-blinded war-blinded veterans who also have hearing difficulties is being conducted con-ducted by the Veterans Administration. Adminis-tration. The survey, involving some 500 blind veterans with hearing difficulties, diffi-culties, is a check on the medical treatment for hearing problems these veterans have received and is intended to help them receive full benefits from the medical services ser-vices VA offers. The program is in accord with recommendations of a comprehensive compre-hensive study of war-blinded veterans, vet-erans, made by VA and published by the U S Government Printing Office. Titled "War-Blinded Veterans in a Post-War Setting," the study pointed out that further research is needed to help those who have loss of both sight and hearing. VA said the new survey indicates indi-cates to date that a number of this group among war-blinded veterans have not visited VA clinics for examination ex-amination or treatment in recent years and might be helped by newer medical advances in treating treat-ing hearing conditions. |
