Show 14C S(grt-o7-Tuesday, May 22, 1984 Netters Know Their Racquet The Weber State men's tennis players, led by Coach Keith Cox, were out to defend the title they won in 1983. And they succeeded, by winning their second Big Sky Tennis Championship in May. Weber won all seven of its matches, defeating every other team in the Big Sky. The team has a variety of exceptional players. Jonas Ehrlin won the number two singles title in the championship. The freshman from Tranas, Sweden, is one of the most talented players Cox has ever had at Weber. Ehrlin posted a 14-9 season record at number two singles and teamed with Eric Styrmoe to post a 15-6 record. Eric Styrmoe, the number two singles champion in 1983, moved up to the number one spot on the team and had a 15-8 overall record. Styrmoe is a senior from Tucson, Arizona. Meil Mattingly is considered one of the top juior players in Australia, and is a freshman at Weber, playing the number three singles spot. He is adjusting to the altitude, climate and the harder American courts. Jeff Robison plays number four singles and teams with freshman Craig Zimmerman from Salt Lake City. Robison is a sophomore from West Valley City. Rod Horton, the junior captain of the team had a 17-6 record at the number five singles spot for Weber. Horton is from Centerville and teams with Bill Collins to form the number three doubles. The team won all seven of their matches in the Big Sky championship to capture titles in the number five and six singles, respectively. Collins is the number six 1983 Big Sky singles champion. The number three doubles team of Collins and Horton are 14-7 this season. For the second consecutive year Weber's men were invited to play in the national Invitational Tennis Tournament, held inLoui-sianna.
