One of the best scholarships available, it pays: All tuition, fees, and supplies. A flat rate for books. A Living allowance of $1000 each year. A 3 year scholarship is worth more than $7000 at WSC, Who Qualifies for a Scholarship? Male of female students under 25 years of age in June of the year the graduate. (Veterans must be under 28). Must have at least 2 years college remaining in September 1984. Must be a U.S. citizen of good moral character. Have a GPA of 2.7 or above depending of academic major. Benifits Include: Over $85,000 in Pay and Benifits during the four year active duty commitment. Valuable leadership experience. Medical, Dental, Life insurance programs. 30 day paid vacation each year. Travel. What Are The Obligations? Graduate from college Four years active duty as an Army Officer or eight years Reserve Duty with local National Guard of Army Reserve unit (Reserve Scholarship winners only). Must agree to pay back the government if any of the above conditions are not met due to student default. Why Should I Apply? It's the program that can add an important dimension to your education by preparing you to handle the varied demands and heavy competition of life-after graduation. ROTC will give you plenty of opportunities to practice the leadership skills learned in the classroom and to reinforce your self confidence. Mountaineering, rappelling, airborne, orienteering- these are a few of many activities in which you can discover your hidden strengths and develop them to the fullest. Upon graduation, you'll be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Active Army, Army Reserve or Army National Guard. No matter what career you pursue later on-business, nursing, law, engineering, you name it- your experience in Army ROTC will prove a valuable asset. Employers look for men and women with the ability to think clearly, solve problems as they arise, and lead others in making business more productive. These and many other managment skills are basic to ROTC training. NOTE:LDS students may be granted an 18 month leave of absence during the ROTC program to complete a Church Mission.
