Show Funeral Services Held In Hurricane For Mrs. Lorenzo Spendlove HURRICANE, Utah. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the stake chapel for Mrs. Lorenzo Spendlove, age 71, who died at her home here on Monday. The services serv-ices began at 2:00 p.m., with Carrol Car-rol Heaton taking charge. The first number was a vocal solo entitled, "Face to Face", by Mrs. William Baker. Bishop Allen Stout offered the opening prayer. Paul Wilson next sang a vocal solo entitled, "That Wonderful Mother of Mine". R. P. Woodbury was the first speaker and spoke of his long acquaintance with Mr. and Mrs. Spendlove. He commented on what a wonderful mother she had been, by raising a large family and instructing them in the ways of the Lord. He also spoke of the great devotion of the husband of Mrs. Spendlove, who has been by the side of his wife night and day since her illness. Morris Wilson Next Speaker Bishop Morris Wilson was the next speaker. He spoke of his early association with the parents par-ents of Mrs. Spendlove, and of their families. He expressed his opinion op-inion that a woman never lived who was more helpful and always ready to give comfort in time of sorrow, than had Ellen Spendlove. "Her life has been a living testimony testi-mony to all those that have known her, of the divinity of the gospel," he said. Bishop Elmer A. Burgener and Lafayette Lafay-ette Staheli .next rendered a trombone trom-bone and cornet duet entitled, "Whispering Hope". Glenn Snow next paid his tribute trib-ute to Mrs. Spendlove. He stated that she had earned her testimony testi-mony from day to day, by little acts of kindness and great acts of faith. William Palmer was the next speaker. He talked of his close association with the family. Mr. and Mrs. Spendlove were among the first families to settle in the Hurricane valley, and had suffered the hardships and trials of pioneer life. Clinton Isom and Mrs. Walter Brooks next rendered a duet entitled, en-titled, "It Was For Me". Harvey Hall was the next speaker and was followed by a talk by George L. Whitney. Mrs. William Baker sang the closing song, "The End of A Perfect Per-fect Day", followed by prayer by G. Fenton Whitney. j Bora At Virgin, Utah , Ellen Spendlove was born on July 18, 1870, in Virgin, Utah. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Isom. She was married mar-ried to Lorenzo J. Spendlove on January 6, 1888. For the last 35 years she and her husband and family have been residents of Hurricane. Hur-ricane. Surviving besides he husband are 12 children: George, Lorenzo Spendlove Jr., Whitney, Mrs. Hy-rum Hy-rum Bradshaw, Rex and Mrs. Oilmen Oil-men Stratton, all of Hurricane; Mrs. Charles Allen of Leeds; Mrs. Harold Anderson of Los Angeles; and Mrs. Lloyd Jolley of Salt Lake City. Also the following brothers and sisters: George Isom, Alice Spendlove, of Hurricane; Mrs. Fred Heaton, of Moccasin, Ariz. ; Mrs. William Palmer of Cedar City, and Mrs. Annie Webb of St. George. |
