Show County School Census Reveals Continual Drop By MILTON E. MOODY County School Superintendent The official school census for the year 1941 of all children residing in the county between the ages of six and eighteen shows a decrease over last year of 74. Even though the census has decreased every year since 1937 this is the largest and most alarming decrease. Last year there was a decrease of 25 over the preceding year. The towns of the county show the following fol-lowing decrease or increase: Springdale, 20 decrease; Rock-ville, Rock-ville, 1 decrease; Virgin, 10 decrease; de-crease; Hurricane, 36 decrease; Leeds, 10 decrease; Washington, 4 decrease; St. George West, 18 decrease; Gunlock, 4 decrease; Veyo, 17 decrease; Toquerville, 7 increase; LaVerkin, 5 increase; St. George East, 8 increase; Santa Clara and Ivins, 8 increase; Central, Cen-tral, 3 increase; New Harmony, no change. Total of this year's census is 2,671. |
