Show 'Education for Victory' Theme of College Graduation Exercises "Education for Victory," was the theme of the 31st annual commencement com-mencement of the Dixie college, held Friday, May 22nd. Milton Twitchell, who addressed the graduates talked on the theme, stressing the necessity of the will to win. Mr. Twitchell is a member of the state tax commission. Miss Opal Isom and Miss Marilyn Mari-lyn Cox, honor students of the college and high school graduating classes, respectively, gave short addresses. Following the issuing of diplomas di-plomas to 48 graduates of the college col-lege and 87 graduates of the high school, Charles H. Skidmore, state superintendent of public instruction instruc-tion made a few remarks and introduced in-troduced members of the state board of education present, also President Nuttall of Snow college. Music was provided by members of the graduating classes. The finale was the rendition of a number num-ber of college songs, with Miss Barbara Tweedie representing the Spirit of Dixie. Diplomas were presented by W. O. Bentley for the upper division di-vision and by W. B. Mathis for the lower division. |
