Show Service Men News Returns from San Francisco Mrs. C. E. Calhoun, the former Nelda Atkin of St. George, returned re-turned last week from San Francisco, Fran-cisco, where she visited her husband, hus-band, who is a Fireman in the U. S. Navy. Fireman Calhoun was actively engaged in the Marshall Mar-shall Islarjds combat and the bombardment of Truk and his ship was one of that "greatest Naval task force in history". One thing he is proud of is that his particular ship was one of the two assigned to escort back to port one of the transports that was needing repairs after the big event. M m Pvt. S. Woodbury Visits Visiting last Friday and Saturday Sat-urday with Mrs. Vivien Woodbury was her grandson, Pvt. Shirl Woodbury and his small son, Rikky of Las Vegas. Pvt. Woodbury Wood-bury is a son of Dr. and Mrs. Clair Woodbury of Las Vegas and is stationed in the anti-aircraft service at Marysville, Calif. Sa fa Surprise Visit With Parents Wilford D. Wilcox, surprised his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Wilcox Wil-cox of Virgin Tuesday, arriving unexpectedly for his first furlough fur-lough in more than two years. He has been stationed in the South Pacific and has been actively ac-tively engaged in that area. He is reported looking and feeling fine. fc S K Sgt. E. Sproul Visits Here Bgt. Evan Sproul arrived last week from his military training camp in Mississippi to visit Mrs. Sproul and make the acquaintance of his month-old son. The boy was christened in the ward services serv-ices Sunday. Attending the christening christ-ening besides Sgt. and Mrs. Sproul, were the two grandmothers, Mrs. Aggie gproul of Washington and Mrs. Ben Cameron of Las Vegas, and the two great-grandmothers, Mrs. Agatha McAllister of St. George and Mrs. Eveline Sproul of Washington. Mrs. Sproul is the former C a r m a Cameron. The Sergeant says the boys is really someone to fight for. Pa PS pa 3. Woodard Passes Exams A telegram! received by Mrs. David W Woodard, April 5th, from San Antonio, Texas, announces an-nounces that their son, Joseph W. Woodard has just passed all final examinations with honors in his flying courses. He reports he is happy and has high hopes for his flying career. Graduating exercises exer-cises were held April 5th. |
