Show Dixie Forest Stockmen And Advisory Board Members Meet Stockgrowers of the Dixie national na-tional forest advisory board concluded con-cluded Saturday at Cedar City one of their most successful annual an-nual meetings since their organization organ-ization in 1938. Theme of the conference was the boosting of the livestock industry of the Dixie area. Representatives of 17 associations of cattle permittees, the Utah Farm Bureau Federation, Feder-ation, wildlife federations, commercial com-mercial marketing agencies, Farm Credit administration, U. S. Grazing Graz-ing service and Forest Service, and the Utah Cattle and Horse Growers' association attending. Chairman Willard Jones, of Newcastle conducted the meetings. meet-ings. Subjects discussed including rationing and price control of beef production; food control j problems; use of private lands as well as forest areas for grazing; and planned for stepping up production pro-duction for the war and safeguarding safe-guarding of the industry for the post-war period. Praise for the status of the local industry was given by Dr. Seth Shaw of Farm Marketing Relations. Range improvements im-provements were discussed by Inspector In-spector Charles DeMoisy Jr., of the forest service. Among other addresses of vital interest was that by Dr. C. Ross Hardy of the Dixie junior college on the relationship of predators and rodents to range conservation. |
