Show Alice Louise Reynolds Clubs Here Honor Memory of Founder High tribute was paid to the memory of Alice Louise Reynolds, former Brigham Young university instructor and world traveler, when more than 100 women assembled as-sembled at the Woodward high gym Saturday, April 1st, for their annual Alice Louise Reynolds club birthday anniversary banquet and program. The group included almost al-most the entire membership of St. George chapters, Nine, Eleven, Sixteen and Seventeen, and Chapter Chap-ter Fourteen of Hurricane, with Chapter Eleven sponsoring the entertainment, en-tertainment, Mrs. Willard Milne, president, as official hostess. Miniature Birthday Cakes Tables were centered with miniature min-iature birthday cakes and place cards were A. L. R. silhouettes in cameo effect, suspended from the centerpiece with red ribbons. A large three-tiered simulated cake centered the stage and was used effectively in the candle-lighting ceremony in which presidents, past and present participated, following fol-lowing a short review of the organization by Mrs. Orval Hafen, who organized the first chapter in 1934. Mrs. Harold Cox was toast-mistress, toast-mistress, and introduced each number with clever original verse. Jackson, Chapter 11, accon panied by Mrs. Bud Seegmiller. Annual Presentations The annual presentations made included News subscriptions to departing county servicemen, announced an-nounced by Mrs. Wullard Milne for Chapter 11; a similar gift to a group of servicemen, from Mrs. George Wells; books for Hurricane Hur-ricane library from Chapter 14, listed by Mona Spendlove; and contribution of $10 to the St. George unit of the American Red Cross from Chapter 16, announced by Mrs. Reed Fuller. Chapter 17 has just recently organized and will make their first presentation in 1945. Mrs. J. J. Phoenix, president presi-dent of the new chapter was presented pre-sented by Mrs. Orval Hafen with the official club designation. Chapter Chap-ter 11 received hearty applause for the evening's entertainment. |
