Show Large Crowd Attends F.F.A. Banquet FFA Members Given High Praise for Their Project Work This Year HURRICANE, Utah. With one of the largest crowds ever to attend at-tend a Hurricane FFA banquet in attendance last Saturday night, April 1st, an inspiring program was presented under the leadership leader-ship of Robert Langston, chapter president. Milton E. Moody, county school superintendent, presented pre-sented the main address of the evening. Supt Moody Speaks Superintendent Moody stressed the fact that now days it is recognized rec-ognized that it takes a smart boy to make a success in the FFA work. He declared that in the past it was thought that mbst anyone could be a farmer, but now it is recognized that the successful farmer is a man of ability and that to be successful in farming a man must keep abreast of the latest methods in farming as well as be a hard worker. High praise was given by the speakers for the fine work that the Hurricane FFA members have accomplished. Elmer Graff, chapter chap-ter advisor, was also singled out for commendation on the leadership leader-ship that he has provided this (Continued on page eight) Hurricane F.F.A. The program for the evening was as follows: Prayer, Wayne Hinton; FFA opening ceremony, FFA officers; welcome speech, Alvy Clove; piano duet, Mrs, Donna Sandberg and Mrs. Dorothy Dor-othy Squire; FFA creed, Devon Terry; presentation of food certificate cer-tificate to Dell Stanworth, Ver-dell Ver-dell Hinton and Clark Spendlove by Principal Maurice Nuttall; song, June Earl and Burdell Ruesch. Short remarks, E. J. Graff and Claud Hirschi; song, Ivan J. Barrett; Bar-rett; financial report of FFA members farming program given by Advisor Graff; guest speaker, Superintendent Moody; making new honorary members, Mayor Chauncey Sandberg and Rulon Langston; closing ceremonies. Chapter Officers Chapter officers of the Hurricane Hur-ricane FFA are: Robert Langston, Lang-ston, president; Alvy Clove, vice president; Verdell Hinton, treasurer; treas-urer; John Fish, secretary; Darwin Dar-win Ballard, reporter; Clark Spendlove, assistant reporter; and Waldo Ruesch, watch dog. The banquet was cooked and served by the home economics department of the Hurricane high school under the direction of Miss Elaine Sandberg. Chapter leaders expressed appreciation to this group for the fine cooperation that they have always given the FFA chapter and members. |
