Show Alfalfa Hay Price Bemains Same Says Snow Alfalfa hay remains unchanged in price, E. Eric Snow, chairman of the St. George war price and rationing board, stated today. "Prices for ungraded hay in the stack and in the field are statewide," state-wide," the chairman said. "A ceiling of $20 a ton has been set for hay in the stack. Field prices should be at least $2 less, or around $18. The price of $18 per ton for field hay is exceptionally high when the moisture content of the hay is taken into account. A delivery charge not to exceed the actual cost may be made in addition to the field price. Premium Pre-mium prices are set on federal-state federal-state inspected hay." V. A. Bergeson of the State De-partment De-partment of Agriculture announced an-nounced that farmers desiring their hay graded may request such service from the agriculture department. Winn R. Walker of Delta is a trained and qualified grader for this section. Only stacked or baled hay can be graded, Mr. Bergeson said. "Because "Be-cause of change of moisture content, con-tent, field hay cannot be graded." |
