Show Fourth of July Program To Feature War Bond Drive Purchases ... A. Legion and Auxiliary Announce Plans For Full Day's Program The Fourth of July program for St. George has been arranged with the desire of stimulating the Fifth War Loan drive, which will be especially featured in the children's parade. The American Legion and Auxiliary are in charge of the day's events. The sunrise salute will be fired under the direction of Clair Morris Mor-ris followed by the ceremony of the flag in charge of Ambrose Cannon, and serenading of the town by the martial band. All children, two to 12 years of age are eligible for the War Bond parade which begins at 9 a. m., for which prizes will be given for the best patriotic costumes. cos-tumes. Course of the Parade The course of the parade will carry the line-up through the business busi-ness district. Starting at the Tabernacle Tab-ernacle corner the procession will travel east one block, thence north one block to U. S. Highway 91, west one block along Highway High-way 91 and south on Main street to the starting point. Legionnaires Legion-naires K. M. Cannon and Vernon Worthen will announce the contestants. con-testants. Immediately following the parade, par-ade, sports for the young folks will be held at the Woodward high playgrounds. During this same hour a patriotic program for adults will be presented at the Wadsworth theatre. The program will include the advancement of the Colors; invocation; in-vocation; numbers by the Martial band, in charge of Ezra McArthur; Mc-Arthur; vocal solo, "Sword of Bunker Hill", Jay Huntsman; oration, ora-tion, John T. Woodbury; solo, "Flag Without One Stain", Mrs. Pratt Miles; vocal solo, "To Thee, Oh Country", Mrs. William E. Baker, Mrs. Gerald Blake and Mrs. Murray Webb; community singing of the national anthem. Soldiers will be presented along with Miss Sharlene Snow, God-des God-des of Liberty, followed by benediction, bene-diction, retiring of the Colors, and music by the band. Included in the sports program will be races for all groups, each contestant to be rewarded with a prize. There will also be a variety var-iety of novelty races, with prizes for the winners. During the sports, concessions will be sold by the Auxiliary. Evening Beauty Parade Another highlight of interest for the day will be the evening beauty parade at the St. George munincipal pool. Five groups will be featured in this parade with war savings , stamps given as prizes. Group one includes one to five years; group two, five to eight years; group three, eight (o ten years; group four, 10 to 12 years; and group five, 12 to 14 years. The dance originally planned will not be held but the sponsors feel they have arranged a sufficiently suffici-ently interesting program to make the day worthwhile, and anticipate antici-pate a large attendance throughout through-out the day. |
