Show Fruit Truckers Urged To Check Equipment And Gas Coupons Now By WAYNE HINTON Right now is the time for truckers and peddlers to make a check-up. You truckers who are going to be hauling fruit should check your gasoline coupons against the mileage mile-age you expect to travel during the four weeks of fruit harvest. If your expected mileage more than consumes your gasoline coupons, cou-pons, apply now for extra gasoline. Do not wait until the day before you need gasoline, or you may have to park your truck and wait for clearance of your approval, which at best takes three days, and probably a week. In the past the local office has permitted you to borrow against next quarter's gasoline. This is no longer permissable, and under no circumstances can it be done, since the book keeping and auditing audit-ing required, makes it prohibitive. BoiTowing will not be necessary if you truckers will check your own needs two weeks in advance. Figure your needs and provide (Continued on page four) Check Truck Gasoline (Continued from first page) for them in the correct way two or three weeks in advance, thus eliminating 'waste of time, worry and problems for yourself and the board. Your appeal should be accompanied accom-panied by an estimate of your trips with the mileage and gasoline gaso-line requirements all figured out on separate sheet of type paper. Don't ask the girl in the office to do your figuring. She has other work to do. Be consistent in your figuring. Don't exaggerate your needs and the board is more apt to consider your appeal favorably. This warning warn-ing comes from the O. P. A. office in Hurricane and applies to the east side of Washington county. It is an appeal for cooperation, so that the office can take care of your needs more expeditiously and satisfactorily. |
