Show Kipling Named for Lake "here Parents First Mel Hudyard Kipling owed his name to the fact that his father and mother moth-er first met on the hanks of lovely Lake Rndyard, near the borders of Staffordshire nnd Cheshire. It was here, too. that a gypsy woman prophesied that they should have a child, born far over the great waters, who would be a wanderer in strange lands nnd across wide seas, but whose heart would always turn to England. So when a child was born to Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood Kipling Kip-ling in Bombay, he was christened Rmlyard, after the distant Midland beauty spot. |
