Show SHEEP SHEARING STARTER IX SOUTHERN UTAH TERRITORY Shearing has started in Southern South-ern Utah, according to J. J. Han-non, Han-non, manager of the wool department depart-ment of Merrion and Wilkins at Ogden, who was in this territory last week on an inspection trip. The first clip to come off the sheeps' backs this spring is owned by Earl Childers of St. George and consists of 2,400 fleeces, which is being shipped to Ogden this week to be entered in the auction sales to be conducted at that point. The Auction Sales method of marketing wool, which is patterned pat-terned after the Australian system, sys-tem, was initiated by Merrion and Wilkins, sheep and wool commission commis-sion company, at Ogden in 1934. The wool is accumulated at some 4 point producing areas and after having been graded, if necessary, is ottered at public auction to the buyer who is willing to pay the highest price. , The plan permit.- wools to be offered direct to the mills and maufacturers and eliminated many of the deficiencies that have been found in the past prevailing 1 marketing practices, thereby nar-J nar-J rowing the margin between what the consumer pays and the grower grow-er receives for his wool, according accord-ing to Mr. Hannon. |
