Show Dixie Flyers To Leave Tuesday For State Basketball Tournament The Dixie Flyers will leave Tuesday Tues-day for Salt Lake City, where they will compete in the annual scholastic basketball tournament. While the boys made a rather ragged ending to a successful season, it is felt by many critics that they will give a good account of themselves in the meet. After winning 10 straight league tussles, they dropped an exciting1 game at Orderville Friday night, 43-41. The Valley boys took an early lead and kept it all the way. The Flyers made a strong comeback at the close of the game, but it was too late. There was too much Jorgenson. Saturday night the boys from Kanab gave the locals another scare in their own gym, but this time the late rally was not in vain. Kanab led most of the way, with the Flyer defense functioning function-ing but with the offense away off color. The regular playing period ended in a tie, and the Dixie boys quickly made the necessary two points to sew up the game in the extra period, 21-19. Two facts will probably account (Continued on page six) Dixie High Basketball (Continued from first page) for the Flyers' poor showing in these two games. First, there was a natural led-down following the clinching of the division honors; and second, Wilkin had not entirely entire-ly recovered from a several days' illness. In other league encounters Friday, Fri-day, Enterprise upset Kanab 31-25 and Parowan downed Cedar City 39-26. Valley also upset Hurricane Saturday night 42-34. Thursday night the college team outclassed the All-American Redheads Red-heads 44-33. The girls played a nice brand of ball, but they were not rugged enough nor speedy enough to give the college boys real competition.
