Show NEWS OF THE COUNTY SEAT Mr. and Mrs. Don E. Royer, the former Miss Edith Blake, left Friday for Indiana to visit Mr. Royer's parents. After a short visit there they will go on to Michigan to make their home. Miss Ella Neilson returned home Monday from Los Angeles where she has been for the past two months. Mrs. G. B. Milne entertained her bridge club last Thursday evening. Mrs. LaVon McQuaid is entertaining the club this evening. Mrs. Lizzie Lamb and Mrs. Charles Hawkins and children of Los Angeles are expected to arrive ar-rive here Friday to attend the birthday anniversary celebration of Mrs. Manomas Andrus. Mr. and Mrs. Gam Andrus of Salt Lake City are also expected. The Saturday night Bridge club were guests March 2 of Miss Mishie Seegmiller with wining win-ing scores going to Mrs. Marge Vance and Mrs. Jennie M. Brown. Mr. and Mrs. Johnathan A. Hale, and Mr. and Mrs. Johnathan Hunt and daughter, Elenora were visitors in St. George this week on their way home from spending a month at the Mesa Temple. Mrs. Beth Schmutz will leave Friday with her Woodward high school cast of the play "Sunset" which will be presented in Cedar City. The same play has been presented twice in St. George and in other nearby towns and has received much praise. Bp. and Mrs. Joseph E. Strad-ling Strad-ling of Mesa stopped over in St. George Wednesday enroute home from Salt Lake City where they went two weeks ago to meet their son, Lewis E., on his return from the north western states mission. He returned to Mesa with them. An informal party Wednesday evening honored Mrs. Bert Truman Tru-man at the home of Mrs. Ida Foremaster, the occasion being her birthday anniversary. The Dixie male quartet presented present-ed a program last Saturday night in Toquerville. They were accompanied accom-panied by Mrs. Mae A. Pace, pianist, and Mr. and Mrs. Milton E. Moody and others from St. George. Mrs. Elmer Harmon was hostess to the Bridge Ettes at the home of her mother, in Washington on Wednesday afternoon. Spring flowers were used in table' decorations decora-tions and honors went to Mrs. Mack Crandall and Mrs. Bud Seegmiller. The Foster Camp of the D.U.P. will hold their March meeting this (Thursday') afternoon at the home of Mrs. W. O. Bentley. Members of the Dixie Culture club with their parents enjoyed a steak dinner and party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Seegmiller Wednesday evening. Special guests were Mr. and Mrs. H. Val Hafen and Miss Mary Whitehurst. Honors went to Edward Ed-ward Miles and Walter C. Pace. Mrs. Lincoln Pugh of Kanab came to St. George February 29 for hospital care. Easter Ahead! Following dinner din-ner at the Arrowhead hotel, bridge was played with high scores going to D. M. Snow and Joseph J. Milne. Mrs. Bertha McGregor Mc-Gregor was a special guest. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Pulsipher and small daughter were guests Monday and Tuesday of Mrs. Pulsipher's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Lee, while here to attend the marriage of Mr. Pulsipher's sister Zella, noted elsewhere in the News. Attorney E. J. Pickett left on Monday for Nephi on court business. busi-ness. He was accompanied by Mrs. Charles Pickett, who will join her husband in Salt Lake City. The Dixie Culture club members mem-bers were guests last Friday afternoon of Mrs. Kumen D. Williams. Wil-liams. Mrs. Mae A. Pace reviewed Edgar A. Guest's book, "Between You and Me". Special guest was Mrs. Clyde McQuaid. Mr. and Mrs. Ben F. McDonald returned last Thursday to their home in Cottonwood, Ariz, taking with them Mrs. McDonald's sister, sis-ter, Mrs. Orpha M .Hunt, who will remain several weeks. Mrs. Hunt has been in poor health for the past month. Doctor and Mrs. Joseph Walker of Hollywood were guests over Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur F. Miles while here to attend the funeral services of John Pulsipher, Mrs. Walker's father. Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Webb were St. George visitors Sunday, Mrs. Webb being especially invited to attend the Silver Jubilee program of the south ward BeeHive girls. Mrs. Lorin Hirschi and two small daughters of Cedar City arrived Friday evening to spend the week visiting relatives. They are guests of Mrs. Hirschi's mother, Mrs. Alice Harmon. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Woodbury Wood-bury returned to their home in Santa Monica, after attending the funeral services of their father, John Pulsipher. Mrs. Arietta Daw, of Darby, Mont., Mrs. Anna Cooper, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Edna Taylor, Mrs. Myrtle Sumner' and Mrs. LaPrele Halliday, all of Provo, were St. George visitors over the week end, attending the funeral services of their brother, John Pulsipher. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Riding and children spent Sunday in St. George visiting their families. They were accompanied by Mrs. Elmer Christian, who visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Seegmiller. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sylvester of Pintura visited Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Gregerson and family. A fireside evening for the west ward M Men and Gleaners was held at the home of Max Bentley Sunday, March 3, a large group attended. Entertainment was furnished fur-nished by Mr. and Mrs. Willis Dunkley, who gave an illustrated talk on their six months spent in Hawaii, with film reels they had taken while there. Light refreshments refresh-ments were served. Elwin Spendlove of Hurricane was a St. George visitor Tuesday. Evan Sweet motored up from Littlefield Tuesday to get his wife and infant daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Call, Mrs. Ernest Tobler of Santa Clara, Mrs. Claude Hirschi of Hurricane and Emery Huntsman of Enterprise returned Sunday from attending the annual conference in Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sorenson and two sons were in St. George on Monday and Tuesday from their Pipe Springs ranch. Mrs. Sorenson Soren-son reviewed a book, "Alone" before be-fore the west ward M.I.A. Tuesday Tues-day evening. - Mrs. Thalia Doty returned to Moapa February 29, spending 10 days in St. George. |
