Show Gold And Green Ball Termed One Of Most Colorful Held What has been pronounced one of the most successful and colorful Gold and Green balls for many years took place in the recreation recrea-tion hall last Friday evening. The three local wards joined in presenting pre-senting their respective queens and royal escorts. With "Memories" as the general theme, the continuity script read by Mabel Jarvis to piano accompaniment accom-paniment by Mrs. Mae A. Pace, suggested an elderly couple looking look-ing back from 1990 to the ensemble en-semble presentation of March 1, 1940. Pres. and Mrs. Harold S. Snow posed as the couple, and as they turned the pages of an old photograph album, the respective groups entered through the doors of memory and took their places in an old garden. Miss Noma Andrus sang the refrains from "Together" and "Memories" introducing Mr. and Mrs. Dean Peterson,, south ward King and Queen. They were preceded pre-ceded by Jane Wadsworth and Winona Crosby as flower girls, who scattered golden petals from their baskets. Musical accompanists accom-panists were Mrs. Pace, Mrs. Irene Everett and Miss Alice Thompson. Sherman and Clark Cox, sons of Mr. anw Mrs. Emerald Cox, as trumpeters, and Loretta and Ar-lene Ar-lene McArthur, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold McArthur, all four in gala dress of old Mexico, lead the way for Ruth Hafen, Queen and Maurice Cook. Prince Charming of the east ward, to the melody of "Mexicali Rose" played by a stringed ensemble. "South of the Border" sung by Calvin Lisle, west ward boy soprano, ushered in the west ward royal couple. Miss Alene Worthen and Max Bentley with a full escort of pages, flower girls, and followers. Pages were Donald Lund and Darrel Smith; flower girls were Mary Ada Gardner and Charlene Cannon, and attendants were Maurine Bentley, Sybil Anderson, Helen Grace Bateman and Corinne Esplin. The royal ensemble remained in position while a selected group danced a Tango, in Mexican costume, cos-tume, two sets of west ward couples presented the M.I.A. square dance and eight couples were introduced in "Dance Vienese" to the music "Tales of Vienna Woods", the M.I.A. floor show of 1940. These numbers were directed by Miss LaVera McArthur and won much applause. ap-plause. The officers join in thanking all who participated in any way in helping to make this party a success both in entertainment and financially. Continuous music was 1 furnished by two orchestras. |
