Show Ely Race Meet Promises To Be Biggest Held Yet The three-day race meet to be held at the new Ely, Nev., race track on July 2, 3, and 4, promises to be one of the biggest races ever held in Eastern Nevada. Well over 100 horses for the July meet have been assured. Many horses from Utah and California Cali-fornia are expected to participate. The White Pine Fair and Racing association is offering S5.000 in purses for the three-day meet. Pari-mutual betting will be offered. of-fered. . New features this year will include in-clude the use of an approximate odds or "tote" board such as used at larger tracks in the nation. This board will show the "win" odds on the various horses as the betting progresses. Another feature fea-ture will be the "daily double" betting arrangement on the last race each day in which bettors must pick the "win" and "place" horses in order, with a resultant hi"h pav-off for winning tickets. A "winning double ticket usually pavs in the ncghborhood of S300. Special races for Utah and Nevada horses will be held daily Additional stables have been erected this year and a new 30,000 gallon water tank installed.
