Show County Game Assn. Issues Invitations To Hunt Deer In Dixie Deer Season Open On Preserve From October 20th to 30th; Hunting Outlook Good Fall is here. Each year during dur-ing the fore part of September the people of this district receive re-ceive their first intimation that fall is drawing near through the issuing of a folder by the Washington Wash-ington County Fish and Game Protective association describing the hunting of deer on the Dixie National Forest. Each year several thousand of these folders are distributed by the association locally and through various agencies. This year the association again offers this folder to the public and asks that these having friends that might be interested in hunting hunt-ing or receiving one of these folders, indicate the number they need and the folders will be forthcoming. Last year out of 900 out-of-state hunters 8 6 checked out with their deer. This percentage is a little higher than locaj hunters were able bo show. The reason attributed to the higher ratio for the out-of-state hunters by local game men is that the foreign hunters are more ex-prienced ex-prienced and they come here and spend their entire time hunting until they have secured their trophy. Every indication this year points to fine hunting. Men who have ridden the range state that they never remember seeing a.s many big bucks on the forest. There will be no doe permits issued this year. In some places it will be necessary to remove doe but this will be done- Hntler the supervision of the gam department de-partment and not by individual hunters. With the exception 'of a few areas the Dixie forest is not over-grazed this year. That this is recognized is seen in the fact that the big game board took the recommendation of the local forest for-est rangers, stockmen and game officials. These groups had sent a resolution to the board asking that there be no doe hunting this year, but that deer be removed re-moved in a few districts where they had congregated to make over-grazing spots. Bryan Lund, president of the County Game association, reports that a considerable amount of interest is already being shown in the hunting on the Dixie forest. for-est. Out-of-state hunters and agencies, such as the Automobile Automo-bile club of Southern California, have sent in for information regarding re-garding the hunting this year and have asked that folders be sent to them for distribution. |
