Show DISTRICT GOVERNOR OF ROTARY CLUBS PAYS ST. GEORGE VISIT Dick Wells, district governor of Rotary for this district, was the guest speaker at the banquet held in his honor on last Saturday Sat-urday evening, October 27, in the banquet room of the Liberty Cafe. Mr. Wells gave an inspiring inspir-ing talk featuring "Rotary, as I See It." "An Educated Man," said Mr. Wells, "is one who has an understanding un-derstanding of many things." He then went on to tell how Rotary helped to educate and to discover a common point of view for its members throughout the world. In speaking of Vocational Service, Serv-ice, he told how Rotary had taught him it wasn't necessary to hate one's competitor or look upon him as an enemy and gave many instances to prove the slogan slo-gan "He Profits Most Who Serves Best." "Cooperation," said Mr. Wells, "is better than pulling against each other." According to him there are two kinds of people, those who lift and those who lean, and he stated that there is only one. lifter for twenty that lean. Rotary, Ro-tary, declared Mr. Wells, teaches people to be lifters instead of leaners. In telling of how Rotary had started and had so quickly encompassed en-compassed the globe, he declared that all other organizations had failed in this accomplishment until un-til this organization was started. "And this was accomplished without with-out a paid organizer," said the district governor. ' He went on to tell how Rotary had a charm for every one, and each had a different idea of Rotary and what it meant to each individual. ' Although it vwas the speaker's belief that Rotary had created a world fellowship, still he didn't did-n't claim that it would at the present prevent wars or striff, but it was his conviction that in time much could be done through such organizations as this one to alleviate this, the world's greatest great-est sore spot. He went on to tell how all nations absorbed the teachings of Rotary and Iiqw neither nationality nor religous creed was a barrier. In closing Mr. Wells told how Rotary was a different type of fraternity, a fraternity that tried to raise its members above its environments. "It is the Aristocracy Aristo-cracy of Service, a weapon by which fine things can be accomplished," accom-plished," said Mr. Wells.
