Show NEW TRAFFIC LAWS NOW IN FORCE A new traffic law for the guidance of motorists and in the interest of greater safety became effective in Utah on the first of this year. It fixes speed limits on the open road as well as business districts, school zones and residential sections, simplifying motorist's signals and defining clearly who has the right of way at intersections. in-tersections. Three of the main changes in the new law relate to speed, right of way and signals, but contrary to the present regulations regula-tions the law leaves no room for argument. There are no contrary regulations now obscure ob-scure wordings or phrases. Drivers will be required to drive as near the right hand curb as possible instead of to the right of the center line of the street as at present and in making left or right turns must first approach the intersection inter-section in the traffic lanes nearest the left or right sides of the right half of the street as the case may be. The new law merely requires a common sense line of reasoning. If drivers operate their cars with the use of prudence and a little plain horse sense instead of with the usual carelessness and disregard for law, that is met daily, the accident report would be much more pleasant to look upon. |
