BUSINESS OFj GIVIC G LUBS Directors Favor Asking Co-: operation of Various County Coun-ty Boards in Securing Funds for Year's Work The problem of getting assistance assis-tance from the various counties to aid in carrying on the work of the Associated Civic Clubs of Southern Utah, which has proved very successful during its first year, was the principal business of the meeting of the directors held Sunday, January 3 at Richfield. Those present were Ellis J. Pickett; Dr. P. L. Holman of Mt. Pleasant; Benjamin Cameron, F. G. Martines, Richfield; J. W. Robinson, Marysvale; C. H. Bigelow, St. George and S. E. Tanner, Loa. It was reported that many of the counties in this section of the state are falling in line with the plan of aiding in financing fin-ancing the clubs in a very commendable com-mendable manner and the association as-sociation will be able to carry on its campaign of advertising the scenic and industrial advantages ad-vantages of southern Utah in a far more extensive manner than ever before. At a banquet given by the Lions club that evening, various vari-ous representatives were called upon for talks and outlined their activities and plans in a very interesting manner. Dr. P. L. Holman announced that he had been appointed to call a meeting of all the bankers bank-ers and depositors of this part of the state to see what could be done toward getting southern south-ern Utah represented on the board appointed' by the federal government to work out a program pro-gram of assistance to farmers who need loans and to smaller banks which find their service to the community restricted because be-cause of so many frozen assets. Dr. Holman also told of the plans of the association for organizing or-ganizing a trade relations department de-partment with a view to establishing esta-blishing better markets for products pro-ducts of this section to the state on the Pacific coast and to arrange for trucking in produce pro-duce from the coast here. He said that while the matter of increasing tourist travel is of vital importance and a duty of the association, still that is not the only feature of its activity. |
