Show SI! GEORGE OIL FIELD NEWS NOTES V Charles D. Alsop and a crew o men are very busy preparing to commence com-mence drilling in the northwest quarter of Sec. 19. They have made a good road to the well site, which has been cleaned and leveled off ready for the rig. Buildings are being be-ing erected for the well workers. The Star rig is on its way in and within a week it is expected to be erected and the well spudded in. Heavy rains during the past week have interferred a little with the drilling at the Uzona oil company's well. However, drilling continues, still in hard limestone formation. The superintendent and drillers of the Mid-American Oil Co. who went to California for bits, etc., for their rotary rig returned with them last Saturday and resumed drilling Sunday, Sun-day, making much greater progress with the new kind of bit in the. hard chrystal limestone than they had been able to make with the ones they had been using. They have' been hampered, however, through failure of electric power, the power company com-pany having to shut them off on account ac-count of damage by storm at their plant. Last night lightning damaged damag-ed the power plant, necessitating a further stoppage. They expect to resume drilling some time today and anticipate going ahead without further trouble. Prospects for the future of the St. George oil field are improving every day and some important news is on the way. Watch for it. |
