I pe 1 r X J Robert Nelson of Uintah High School demonstrates one of the activities included In the s survival trips slated for this summer Outdoor survival expeditions scheduled for Uintah Basin The Uintah School District in conjunction with the Uintah Basin Association of Governments Governments Governments Govern Govern- ments have announced a summer program of outdoor survival expeditions Ashel Evans Uintah County Superintendent of schools and McCord Marshall association of governments co coordinator announced the hiring of a summer staff to head up the program in the Vernal area Ron Meier and James Hunnington Hunnington Hunnington Hun- Hun instructors in the 1974 summer survival program along with Carrie Lindquist will serve as this years year's instructors j JI TilE THE TRIPS sch scheduled are available for male or female students 14 and older and willbe willbe will willbe be run In the wilderness area northeast to northwest of Vernal city Five trips are scheduled from June 20 14 June 25 July 1 I July 7 13 July 24 18 and the final trip July 29 August 4 Interested students should contact the Uintah School District Office at South 1st West in Vernal The trips promise to be exciting with skill training in the areas of primitive fire building rappelling descending vertical cliffs with the aid of ropes identification and consumption of edible plants primitive hunting and fishing methods orienteering and hiking through some of the areas area's scenic beauty areas In addition addition ad ad- the instructors hope to instill in each sense of appreciation fo for the wonders of nature the accomplishments accomplishments ac ac- accomplishments of the pioneer forefathers and a realization of self-limits self self-gratification self and accomplishment |
