Show Morgan Woodhouse snares wrestling title Morgan Woodhouse, a former Uintah Ute tussler, placed first in the 142 pound class in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament in Fort Collins, Colo., Saturday. Satur-day. BYU's Woodhouse nipped Troy Tracey of New Mexico, 4 to 3, for top honors. Wyoming pocketed first place in the tournament with 92',2 points and defending defen-ding champion, Brigham Young University, Univer-sity, garnered second place at 84 counters. New Mexico placed third at 75 V2 and Colorado State gained fourth place at 32 counters. Air Force picked up fifth place honors at 14 counters. Four Cowboys garnered crowns for the Wyoming crew. Chris Bell, 126, placed first when he downed Chris Luttrell of New Mexico, 14-10 and Tom Seamans, 134, edged Ralph Harrison of New Mexico, Mex-ico, 6-5, in the title match. Mark Gasner, 150, downed John Schaumberg of New Mexico, 7-3, and Ron Whitman, 158, thumped Kim Merewether of New Mexico, Mex-ico, 6-3. Weber State College captured first place in the Big Sky Wrestling Tournament Tourna-ment with 90 1 2 counters. Boise State placed second at 86 and Idaho State picked pick-ed up third place honors at 55' 2 counters. Montana State captured fourth place with 45' 2 points and Northern Arizona snared firth at 2312 points. Montana nabbed sixth place with 11 counters. Gary Scriven of Weber State decision-ed decision-ed Kent Wairack of Boise State, 3-1, for first place at 134 pounds and Weber's Dae Lundskog, 142, beat Montana State's Jeff Todd, 4-0, in overtime. Marty Bench, Weber State, 158, blanked Kevin Glynni Northern Arizona, 8-0, for first place. ' Weber State's Brian Ricks, 126, nabbed nabb-ed second place when he was defeated by Scott Barrett of Boise State, 10-6. Boise State's Ben Coronado thumped Jeff Swan of Weber State, 14-7, in the 150 pound title ti-tle match. Randy Wirtiess, Idaho State, decisioned Weber State's Jay Winward , 23-8, for first place in the 167 pound class! |
