Show Lapoint Paula Huber 247 2425 AAU Freestyle wrestling held Saturday, Feb. 19 the Uintah School District held a AAU Freestyle Wrestling Tournament. Bart Huber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Huber, placed first in his weight division. Blaine Huber, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Huber, placed second. Kyan Horrocks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Horrocks, placed second. Troy Hartle. son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Hartle, placed fourth. There is going to be another tournament held next Saturday at Pleasant Grove. Monday, Feb. 21 Louise Bascom was hurt while helping push Ranaeand Rulon Schurz out of the mud. A couple of weeks ago Helen Whitbeck was out from Salt Lake City visiting her daughter Jolene Esplin. Over the weekend Cindy Warburton and Craig Jenkins were visitors at the Earl Warburton residence. Cindy teaches school in Salt Lake City. Jay and Kenna Dee Hurren were here during the w eekend visiting the Kenneth- : Hartle family. Kenna Dee is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hartle. Har-tle. Jay and Kenna Dee live in Weston, Idaho. Earl Allred has been named the new-principal new-principal at the new elementary school in Lapoint. The new school will be ready to hold its first year of school this fall. Mr. and Mrs. Max Ftasmussen have been in Wyoming over the weekend visiting Max's mother. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Warburton are the proud new grandparents of a baby born to Nile and April Warburton Feb. 25. The baby was born in the Ashley Valley Medical Center in Vernal. This is the fourth child for Nile and April. They now have two boys and two girls. Marquita Pope, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Pope and Sean Amodt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Amodt, were awarded award-ed January students of the month for the Vernal Youth Orchestra. Both Marquita and Sean play violins. The Scout Klondike Derby was held Friday and Saturday in Bacon Park. The derby includes two stakes which has 18 Scout troops. The Scouts competed in Scouting skills that they have learned throughout the year. There was a sleigh race and sleigh judging. Colleen Hancock is the District Cub chairman. Pat Deacon is the District Ftoundtable chairman. Martin Huber is the Cubmaster of La-point's La-point's troop 239 and Elroy Walker is La-point's La-point's Scouting coordinator. Many hours have been spent by these people to make the Scouting program a success. Colleen Hancock has been chosen in the western division of the United States to attend the Wood Badge Training Camp : that will be held in Hawaii this summer. |
