Show N. Snow honored at 83 Newell Snow was honored on his 83rd birthday birth-day Feb. 9 at a dinner at the home of the Meril Snows. Newell's wife Alice and the Haslem brothers, Joe and John, helped him celebrate. Tickets are now being sold at $2 each for a beautiful queen-size quilt displayed at the Lazy River Trading Post. On April 3 at 7 p.m. at the same location, the quilt will be given away. All monies will go to the Jensen Fire Dept. fund. A farewell party is planned for the Stanley Allen family Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Jensen Ward Cultural Hall. Everyone who knows the Aliens is encouraged to be there. Family members of the Boyd Bascoms gathered at the Dennis Bascom home Feb. 10 to honor Elaine Bascom on her birthday. Myrtle Murray, Elaine's mother, was also present. A special dinner was prepared. Tracy Haslem spent the long weekend with his grandfather Joe Haslem. Tracy returned to his college col-lege classes at BYU Tuesday Tues-day morning. A large crowd of relatives and friends met at the cultural hall Feb. 13 after the funeral and burial of Lewis A. Littleton. Lit-tleton. Many of those present were former residents of Jensen. Lunch was prepared and served by Relief Society members. Mr. and Mrs. A. DeMar Dudley, Mr. and Mrs. Lynne Dudley, Mr. and Mrs. Newell Snow, MaryNell Snow, Hoyle Robinson, Joe and Tracy Haslem and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Snow were among the capacity crowd at the Historical Society meeting held at the Golden Age Center Feb. 13. When the appointed program, consisting of slides and remarks about Blue Mountain, failed to arrive; President LaVon Wall called on Joe Haslem to give a few remarks of Blue Mountain Moun-tain history. He delivered a most interesting 40 minute impromptu talk, which was taped and will be placed in the historical department of the Uintah County Library. Doris Burton of that department again made a plea that pictures and histories of people and events of our Uintah County area be brought to the History Department. DUP Camp Escalante will meet at Mrs. Lynn Dudleys Thursday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. The Jensen Fire Dept. was called out early Monday Mon-day morning to extinguish ex-tinguish the fire which enveloped a little camper trailer near the oil well east of the Charlotte Davis home. A faulty propane pro-pane refrigerator was believed to have caused the fire which totaled the trailer. No one was staying stay-ing there at the time of the fire. Recent visitors at Flossie MacKnights were Bennie and Jane Red-field. Red-field. While here, a birthday birth-day dinner for the two visitors was served. The Sweetheart Ball theme "Country Western," will be held Saturday, Feb. 20 from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. A fun evening has been planned for everyone over 18 years. The King and Queen and attendants will be chosen, prizes will be awarded, refreshments served and the music of Terry Billings and the Koad Runners will make the evening special. The Lyn Morrills, Mrs. Leon Moon and Deana, the Bill Murrays, Janet Slaugh and Pennie Ann Murray and the Bud Gilroys are some who attended at-tended the state wrestling matches in Salt Lake City. |
