Show Uintah Ute tracksters to compete in meet April 3- Members of the Uintah track and field team will begin running, jumping and throwing competition Saturday, April 3 in the Utah County Track Meet at Mountain View in Orem and the Utes will host a tri-meet with Orem and Provo, April 13. Uintah will compete in the Weber State Invitational, April 17. The Snow and Moffat County In-vitationals In-vitationals are set for April 24. The junior high Basin Day meet is set for April 30. Uintah will take part in the Brigham Young University Invitational, In-vitational, May 1 and will compete in the Region 7 Meet, May 5-. The 3-A State Meet is slated for May 14 and 15. Uintah will also battle American Fork and Pleasant Grove in dual meets. "Returning sprinters for the Utes are Blake Ewell, Troy Liebhardt, Rick Morton and Greg limb. Morton placed second in the 100 yard dash and fifth in the 220 yard dash at the state meet. Morton also placed first in the 100. 440 yard relay and long jump at the region meet and placed second in the 2C0. Returning distance runners are Jerry Allred. Randy Haws. Steve Merkley, Larson Caldwell and Calvin Knight. Allred placed second in the mile and two mile at the region meet and placed sixth in both events at the state meet. Mike Johnson. 440, 220, long jump and relay, is also back this year. Johnson placed third in the 220 and second in the 440 at the region meet," stated LuiUh '" track coach, Curg Belcher. Belcher added, "Returning people in ; the field events are Paul Nelson, Dc.7ia Caldwell, shot put, discus; Jody Yoizg shot put, javelin, pole vault; Robert -Schultz, Clark Emery, javelin uj" Gary Galley, high jump. Galley p'ed third in the high jump at the retx meet in 1981 and Young netted EiJ place in the pole vault at the reta meet. We have 52 athletes out for trsi this year.
