Show ! FACTS I ? & FIGURES j Americans arc fast becoming be-coming expert conservers of energy. Comparing 1980 consumption to 1979, Americans used 6.5 less gasoline and 1 1.4 less heating heat-ing oil. That's important, because 38 of the oil the U.S. uses comes from overseas. This is a problem because America will depend on gas and oil for most of its energy for the rest of this century. Alternate Al-ternate energy sources hold great promise, and Gulf Oil is actively involved in several of them. But they won't be commercially viable for many years. |
