In addition to the evening courses, those classes which are held in the local high schools during the day are also open to other students ofthe community. The staff of USU Education Center aims to serve the public's educational needs and will be glad to help anyone who needs advise, information, or counseling. The secretary at the Roosevelt office is Beth Waters and the secretary at the Vernal office is Sid Weeks. Patty Ann Merrell is the head accountant and financial aids officer. Dr. Varnell Bench, Director of USU Education Center, is available for counseling students who are working on a Master's Degree in any field. Vince Lafferty and Nels Carlson, local staff professors, are available to counsel students in undergraduate studies, general education, and those working on Bachelor's Degrees. Bruce Goodrich, who is also a local staff professor and general counselor, will be teaching on the USU campus in Logan during Fall Quarter. He will then return to the Uintah Basin to teach at the Education Center again. Mr. Goodrich teaches in the math area; Mr. Lafferty 's field is history; Mr. Carlson's specialty is drama and theatre. A special program, the Educational Information Center Network (EIC), is conducted through the Education Center to help students in choosing where they may want to go to school. Vince Lafferty, EIC Director, can provide pro-vide students with cost information, program offerings, college .catalogs, career guides, career information, and financial aid information. The Fall Quarter schedule and registration forms can be obtained at the Vernal office located at Uintah High School (789-6100) or the Roosevelt office located on East Highway 40 ( 722-2294 or Vernal toll free number 789-3689). |
