K was stated in a meeting of representatives from Ballard, Uintah County and police and sheriff departments depart-ments that vandalism, expecially during extracurricular activities has been worse this year than it has been for seven years at Union High School. Since the school is in both Roosevelt City and Ballard Town, and Uintah County and Duchesne County, who is to provide police protection to the school is a concern of school officials. Commissioner Neil Domgaard said that two years ago a law was passed to make it possible for an arrest in any jurisdiction. "Police can cross over and arrest," he said. It was suggested to leave law enforcement en-forcement to the police department and not handle it in schools. Two suggestions to be considered by the Uintah School Board in their Feb. 28 meeting are annexation of schools into Roosevelt City from Ballard, or the cost of deputizing an extra man to cover the area. |
