Show MIkesrown- The first white men in Uintah County The first recorded white men to enter Uintah County were the Franciscans Escalante and Dominguez and their Party. The purpose of their journey was find a new route from Santa Fe to Monterey. The original departure date from Santa Fe was to be July 4, 1776; M illness forced them to delay a few ks until July 29.
