Show Trideil- Lapoint water system rip-off Dear Editor: Early last year a bond election was held and approved for the construction of a new water system for Tridell-La Tridell-La point. Some time before the bond election was held, meetings were held with the two communities and board of directors where issues were discussed. Approval was given, with understanding on some conditions and issues, by a majority raise of hands to go ahead with the bond election. Some of those understandings and conditions were: (1) The general obligation bonds would be retired by revenue to the water company and that there would be no raise in taxes. (2) The bonds couid be retired by the $10 monthly mon-thly rate and there would be no need to raise the monthly assessment. (3) New connections would be $1,000. It was found that moneys were not ample to pay for the new system so almost immediately after the bond election was passed a tax bond was issued, and our taxes raised to pay off that bond. Water users received a letter dated Feb. 22, 1980, and effective as Jan. 1, 1930 monthly minimum assessments would be raised to $15. New connections will be $1,500 effective March 1, 1980. The apparent reason for raise in assessments was by un foreseen costly maintenance, caused by an out of state "Get the job done, get your money, and get out of town" pipeline contractor. Many water users in the Tridell-Lapoint Tridell-Lapoint area are very upset with the apparent disregard of understood conditions con-ditions and promises made by the board of directors, and admonish all people to be very cautious of understandings and promises made by some of our officials.
