Show Piano Concert Enjoyed at StarHall On Nov. 22, Star Hall was alive with "con brio" sounds from the first piano concert to be held in Moab sponsored by local piano teachers. Mrs. Muriel Winbourn, speaker of the evening, opened the concert by thanking Mrs. Doreen Grassland, local high school accompanist and piano teacher, for her idea. Participants Partici-pants included 16 children who played pieces, young teachers who rendered brilliant solos, and three local students who played in the advanced music segment of the program. Advanced.iruisciaJ selections included: Mozart's "Sonata 12" by Miss Terry Dunnell, teacher: Chopin's "Minute Waltz" by Rosalie Knight, student; Mancini's "Baby Elephant Walk" by David Urbanek; Christion Finding's "Rustles of Spring" by Mrs. Becky White; Debussy's "Clair de Lune" by Tim DeFriez, student and teacher; and Sousa's Originial Arrangement Ar-rangement of "Stars and Stripes Forever" performed by Carolyn Leach. The evening's concert was dedicated by the speaker to Mrs. Myrle Baldwin, Moab's first permanent piano teacher and accompanist. The next piano concert will be held sometime in February and will also be open to the public. |
