Show Bunnell Will Keynote Annual C of C Banquet State Sen. Ornar B. Bunnell, D-Price, majority leader of the Utah State Senate, will be the keynote speaker at the annual installation banquet of the Moab Chamber of Commerce, to be held on Tuesday, Dec. 14, at the SunDowner Restaurant, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Sen. Bunnell, who represents Grand, San Juan, Emery and Carbon Counties in the state's upper house, will speak on the dramatic changes expected in southern Utah in the next decade due to the growing demand for energy resources. "We in Carbon County have been deeply involved in coal development for the past several years," he said, "but the really exciting aspect in the changing picture is the growing development of new and expanded uranium properties in Southern Utah and that's what will really have an effect on Grand County," he stated. Sen. Bunnell, who will direct floor action in the Senate beginning in January, will also discuss the coming session of the Legislature. Mr. Bunnell has been in extensive meetings with Gov, -elect Scott Matheson, and will talk about the changes he forsees in State government with the new gubernatorial administration which takes office in January. The newly seated Board of Directors of the Moab Chamber will elect its officers for the coming year after next Tuesday's meeting. Those officers will be installed formally at the Dec. 14 banquet. In addition, Chamber president, Connie Caouette will give a recap of chamber activities during the current year. . Husbands . and wives traditionally attend the annual banquet. |
