Show Commission VJill Finalize County Budget The Grand County Commission Commis-sion will finalize the budget for 1977 following a public hearing hear-ing to be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6 in the City Council Chambers. The budgets of the various departments will be presented and discussed. Until the budget is formally adopted, any areas may be adjusted according to comments and suggestions received from the general public at the hearing. The total general fund budget, as tentatively set, will be $701,455. This year's estimated expenditures will be $641,434. The Collector Road budget, which will be used next year to widen and finish 6.5 miles of Spanish Valley Drive, includes monies which have been accruing for several years for this purpose. Despite the tact that a number of cuts have been made, the tentative budget is $26,241 out of balance. The major cut was made in the exhibition and community promotion budget, which is slated to receive $4,000 in 1977 compared with about $11,700 this year. Economic Development, Develop-ment, which received $15,491 in 1975 and $4,000 this year, has been completely cut out of county monies for next year. The Civil Defense budget has been cut from $6,425 to $2,000 next year, with the full-time director's position eliminated. In addition, the airport budget has been tentatively set for $6,500 in 1977. This year's budget has been $28,691. The hospital tax revenue, which received $87,000 this year, is slated for $77,000 in the 1977 budget. The budget hearing this year, according to Commission Chairman D. I,. Taylor, was set during the evening in order that more citizens will be able ot attend. In previous years the hearing has been held in conjunction with regular commission com-mission meetings during the day. |
