ENDURANCE REDES Horses from Utah have been making quite a stir at Endurance Rides in Colorado this year. At the ride at Del Norte last month the Erst 6 places went to Utah horses, with the exception of 4th place. When Jacque Jewkes and Barbara McGann hauled horses hor-ses to Salida, Colorado two weeks ago, they were told to go home, they didn't have a chance. Jacque proceeded to ride Rezon in first and then have him judged Best Condition. Condi-tion. Barbara rode her mother's moth-er's American Saddler, Navajo, Nava-jo, in to eighth place very respectable for Navajo's first 50-mile ride. Elene Bonine was Jacque's "pit crew" and Barbara's husband, Pat was hers. Evidently they did a terrific job. Jacque had a less experienced experi-enced pit crew this past weekend. Rezon was somewhat some-what tired, but sailed over the rocks in American Fork Canyon Can-yon to come in 5th at the 50-mile ride there. He was also judged 2nd best condition, condi-tion, which is unprecedented at that ride. Jacque says that ride is the toughest 50 miles, and this is supported by the fact that only about 20 of the 35 horses even finished. Marsha Blank rode her appaloosa mare, Cherokee, to a win in the 25-mile ride. Barbara McGann was her helper, and she and Jo Baxter did their best to help Jacque, also. CHOIR TO VISIT Mrs. Grace Peterson has had word from her granddaughter grand-daughter Terri Jo Peterson of Dugway Proving Ground, that their group of 12 students, stu-dents, high school and college age, will travel to Green River and sing in the Community Church here over the Labor Day weekend. They will arrive ar-rive at Mrs. Peterson's late Friday night, traveling by car and camper." The boys will stay in the camper, and the girls will bunk in at Petersons, Peter-sons, either in her commodious commodi-ous extra beds, or in their sleeping bags. On Saturday, they plan to do some sight seeing in the area, and on Sunday, September 4, they will sing at both the morning and evening services at the Community Church. This group has sung in several churches this summer, sum-mer, and have been very well received wherever they appeared. ap-peared. Anyone wishing to know more about the program is welcome to call Grace and find out more about them.
