Show AIME planning sessions soon in Grand Junction The Colorado Plateau Section Sec-tion of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical and Petroleum Engineers (AIME) and the Women's Auxiliary (WAAIME) are sponsoring the second annual Mining and Petroleum Days of Western Colorado on October 8 and 9, in Grand Junction. The Two Rivers Plaza is the setting for displays of products, prod-ucts, services, and equipment by mining, petroleum, equipment equip-ment suppliers, oil shale companies, com-panies, and State and Federal government agencies. The show will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the 8th and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday the 9th. Equipment suppliers will sponsor a cocktail party Saturday Sat-urday evening at the Plaza. A parade on Main Street of heavy equipment, trucks, drills, bands and floats, at 10 a.m. on October 8 will open the show. Western Colorado's John Vanderhoof, President of Club 20 is arranging a seminar on the area's resources. Dr. Guy T. McBride, Jr., President of the Colorado School of Mines will keynote the seminar that will feature experts who will give up-to-the-minute information infor-mation on current operations and future plans of Western Slope resource producers. The Two Rivers Plaza will house the Seminar from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8 and on Sunday films r i on Western Slope uranium, coal, oil, gas, oil shale, gold and base metals will be shown continuously beginning at 10 a.m. The Grand Junction Sentinel Sen-tinel will publish a Mining Tabloid containing articles on coal and hard rock mining, oil shale, and petroleum along with advertisements by producers, pro-ducers, buyers, services, and suppliers. Jack leg drilling, mucking machine, and hand mucking contests will be staged the morning of October 8. First place winners will receive $300 and the runners up will get $150.
