Utah's Board of Big Game Control authorized the issuance issu-ance of some 1,300 hunter's choice elk permits this year, along with 535 antlerless permits per-mits and 130 special bull only permits. Deadline for making application for restricted area elk permits was August 12. Approximately half of the restricted area permits are valid during the regular September Sep-tember 28 through October 16 open bull elk season dates. But several early and late season hunts were scheduled. - I The exceptions follow: Cache-Rich County, part, Sept. 17-25; Indian Peaks, Sept. 17-25; Book Cliffs, part, Sept. 17 - Oct. 16; Book Cliffs, roadless part, Sept. 17 - Oct. 16; Avintaquin-White River, Sept. 17 - Oct. 16; Goslin-Three Goslin-Three Comers, October 1-16; Cache-Logan Peak, part, Nov. 12 - Dec. 11; Bear River-Hole-in-the-Rock, east part, Nov. 12 - Dec. 11; Heaston, Nov. 12-22; Ogden River, north part, Nov. 12-20; Ogden River, Riv-er, south part, Nov. 12-20. This year's new elk permit system requires that successful success-ful applicants, when notified, return previously pruchased open bull elk permits to the Division of Wildlife Resources, Resour-ces, along with an additional $10. Permittees will then be mailed the restricted area permit. Possession of a restricted re-stricted area permit requires a hunter to pursue elk only in the elk herd unit designated by special permit. |
