Show 4-H livestock sale held here Members of the 4-H Livestock Live-stock Club held their annual show and sale last Saturday, June 18. A total of 7 calves and 6 lambs were auctioned to buyers with lambs ranging in price from 64 to 72 cents per pound, and calves going from 77 to 1.5 Vi cents per pound. The Showmanship Trophy was awarded to Roy Krist. Grand Champion Lamb, owned by Gerri McKinney, weighed 102 pounds and was sold to Lyle Davis at the price of 64c per pound. Gerri was also the owner of the Reserve Champion Lamb that weighed 118 pounds and was bought by Miller"s Supermarket at 64c per pound. The Grand Champion Calf, sold to Miller's Supermarket, weighed 979 lbs. and was raised by Katy White. The beef sold for the top price of $1.51lb. Reserve Champion went to a calf owned by Jill Krist weighing 964 pounds. Highest bidder for the calf was First Security Bank, who paid 93clb. One calf belonging to Inga McKinney was shown and judged to be an exceptional calf, but was not sold, upon the judge's recommendation that it was a bit too light. She plans to show the calf upstate in the fall and is sponsored by City Market and the Butcher Block. Other buyers of animals in the sale were Atlas Minerals, Burt Explosives, Red's Food-town, Food-town, LaSal Oil," and Texas-gulf, Texas-gulf, Inc. |
