Show Class I air quality sought by Sec. of Interior In a public notice slated for publication beginning next week, the Secretary of the Interior has stated that he is beginning work aimed at redesignating Canyonlands National Park and Capitol Reef National Park Class I PSD areas. The action is being taken pursuant to the Environmental Protection Agency Prevention of Significant Deterioration of Air Quality regulations, and will mean that if the application is approved, no significant deterioration of air quality will be allowed in the two southern Utah national parks. Officials of IPP Power Project, planning plan-ning a large plant in the Hanksville area, have already stated that if the action is approved, it will be next to impossible to construct the large Caineville plant. Written notice of the application, including a timetable of procedures to be followed by the' Department of Interior, will be on file at Canyonlands National Park Headquarters on South Main in Moab. |
