" ' .-'''"'" -" - j; - ' . - ' - ' Larry Campbell, driving car number 53 which is owned by Jerry Clark, made his first win for the 1977 season last week at the Red Rock Speedway, June 17. He will be in action again on July 1 at the track. Stock car races enjoyed In front of a small crowd of about 300 people, 18 cars were back to try their luck at trophies and prize money at the Red Rock Speedway June 17. In the B trophy dash, Tom Arnold came out on top driving driv-ing car number 35. A trophy honors went to Tommy Lam-met, Lam-met, driving car number 99. Trophy girl was Judy Jackson. Jack-son. In the first heat race Larry Campbell, driving number 53, earned his first win of the year. Bobby Davenport, in car number 48, was second, and Jim Nyland, driving number 19, was third. The second heat race found Danny Striblin, in car number 12, in first, with Tom Arnold, car 35 in second, and Jim Wyatt, driving number 3, in third. In the third heat race Marv Sims, driving number 57, was back at it in first place. Jess Nations, driving his new car, number 7, was second, with Mike Palmer third driving number 66. In the semi-main event Tom Arnold, number 35, was first, Larry Campbell, number 53, was second, and Danny Striblin Strib-lin in number 12 was third. The main event ended with Jim Nyland in number 19 in first place. Car 66, driven by Mike Palmer was second, and car 44, driven by Rick Hirsch-feld, Hirsch-feld, was third. Junior fan club winners for the night were Robbie Eng-strom, Eng-strom, who chose car 57 driven by Marv Sims for his ride, and Robert Dolphin, who rode in number 7 with Jess Nations. Kids are reminded to bring their parents to the races and put their names in the hat. The winners get a ride with their favorite stock car driver. On the upcoming calendar are the big UCAR races at Grand Junction June 25. Time trials are at 6 p.m. and races begin at 8 p.m. The Red Rock Speedway will resume racing July 1, with time trials at 7 p.m. and races at 8 p.m. |
