Show 30 year celebration Good Shepherd Church and its parisioners celebrated thirty thir-ty years of its existence as a parish with a Mass celebrated at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 12, at East Carbon City (formerly Dragerton). Envited guests to the dinner afterwards were Bishop Joseph L. Federal of Salt Lake City, members of the clergy of the diocese, and other civic officials of Carbon County. Former Moab Pastor, Fr. Reyes Rodriguez, is the pastor now at Good Shepherd Church. Among the speakers at the dinner were Father Jerome Stoffel of Logan, Utah, who has made extensive research of the history of Catholicism in Utah. His series of the Expedition of Father Escalante and Father Dominguez appeared ap-peared last year in the Salt Lake Tribune commemorating 200 years of Catholicism in Utah. The principal speaker was Father Gennaro Verdi, pastor of St. Pius X Church, who served as pastor of Good Shepherd Church for fourteen years. Many other priests of the diocese served the territory before it became a parish of East Carbon. |
