Show Park Hearing Gains Ideas On Canyonlands About 30 people, including representatives from the Sierra Club, commercial river ri-ver tour guides, San Juan County Commissioners, BLM and Forest Service person, nel attended a public meeting meet-ing Tuesday to discuss ideas to be incorporated into master mas-ter planning efforts for Canyonlands Can-yonlands and Arches National Parks. The object of the meeting was to gain input from people using the park. Officials from Environmental Associates ol Salt Lake City, who are doing the master plan, were to use the ideas to form ideas and suggestions for use in the master plan and transportation transporta-tion study. The main portion of dis. cussion centered around transportation in the park, including limitation of types of vehicles, mass transportation- systems and tour con-cersions. con-cersions. Wilderness designation proposals pro-posals were also discussed as part of the meeting. The Park Service will hold a public hearing after the master plan has been completed com-pleted in the next few weeks to gain public feeling and reaction to the plan. |
