Rodeo clowns, aside from pleasing crowds with '.their wild antics in the arena, arc responsible for luring I irate bulls from fallen riders. Many a clown, or bullfighter bull-fighter as he might more appropriately be termed,, has taken the brunt of an attack and suffered physical injury in-jury while making it possible for the rider to escape unharmed. Chuck Ilcnson will delight audiences this weekend at the Moab arena for the Canyonlands Ro-fc-j. He first began his career as a clown at intercol- legiate rodeos while a member of the University of Arizona Ari-zona rodeo team. Following three years in the Army he moved into the pro rodeo arenas. Hcnson has ap-p.arcd ap-p.arcd seven times at the Calgary Stampede in Canada and has worked virtually every major rodeo in the country, including the California Rodeo at Salinas. |
