Show Moabite Gains Teaching Post At Kamas Jay Johnson spent last week (May 30-June 2) on the campus of Brigham Young University attending a workshop for new principrl; in preparation for his assignment as-signment as principal to the Kamas Seminary. This is. Mr. Johnson's first assignment assign-ment with the Department of Seminaries and Institutes of Religion. The four-day workshop consisted of concentrated orientation ori-entation in all phases of the responsibilities of principal-ship. principal-ship. Addressing the group formally were Dr. Joe J. Christensen, Associate Commissioner Com-missioner of Education as well as his assistant administrators admin-istrators Dr. Franklin D. Day, Dr. Dan J. Workman, and Dr. Frank M. Bradshaw. In addition to classroom sessions, ses-sions, a banquet was held in the Ernest L. Wilkerson Center on Thursday. The -group participated in a special spec-ial 4:30 a.m. session in the Provo Temple on Friday. The workshop concluded with a testimony meeting that afternoon. The program of religious education of the Church can be found in all 50 states and over 30 foreign countries with over 200,000 students enrolled. Some 1,000 teachers teach-ers and administrators are employed on a full-time basis bas-is and 3,000 part-time teachers. teach-ers. Instruction is given on a high school level in Old Testament, New Testament, Book of Mormon, and LDS Church History on a rotating rotat-ing basis. The course of study stu-dy for the 1972-73 school year throughout the entire system will be the New Testament. |
