Show Democrats met here to organize The Central Committee of the Grand County Democrats met last Thursday Thurs-day evening at the Grand County Courthouse to finalize plans for a fund raiser and to select a candidate for the office of County Assessor. Gerald Laughter, the previous candidate, withdrew his name from the race last week. It was decided to hold a fund raiser Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 6:30 p.m. at Lion's Club Park. The event will include a dinner and dance, slated to begin at 8 p.m. Tickets will be $5 each. A committee, consisting of Doris Wilson, Geri Pilling and Jim Nyland, was formed to organize publicity for the fund-raiser. Saturday at noon, the Democratic Women met at the Ramada Inn to discuss plans for assisting in the event. The women also discussed campaign plans for the upcoming Nov. 7 election and made plans for a telephone committee and membership member-ship drive. Interested women are invited to attend the regular luncheon meetings meet-ings of the organization,' to be held the last Saturday of every month at noon at the Ramada Inn. Dues are $6 per year. It was announced that club President Marilyn Cooper has appointed Vivian Arthur as Parliamentarian Parlia-mentarian and that she will be presenting a program on parliamentary procedure in the near future. |
