Show )fficers investigate finding of slay victim near Colorado River I A xcv. discovered by three si'J rr.'ca Cil-forriia r.ear the ..:nd: River Bridge north of Moab List Sunday at 3 p.m. has resulted in an intense investigation by Kval law enforcement agencies. The discovery of tho body was reported to Highway Patrolman Tim Wall, who was flagged down while on patrol on Highway 163. Wall reported that tho body was that of a man in his late 20'a or early 30's, whose throat had been cut and skull crushed, possibly by a blow from a blunt instrument, such as a tire iron. Authorities estimated that the man had been dead for two to three days prior to the body being found The body, which had no identifier tion when discovered, was described describ-ed as being that of a white male with short hair and a mustache, 5'8'-6'0" in height, weighing 170-1S0 lbs., clad in a red T-shirt and cordoroy Levis. It is believed that the victim was killed elsewhere and the body later dumped in the bushes near the river. The body was transported to the University of Utah Medical Center by Hefner's Funeral Home for an autopsy, to be performed by the State Medical Examiner. Monday, a bloody sleeping bag was found in the same area as the body. One of many leads being checked by authorities is a report that a man matching the descrip-' descrip-' tion of the victim was seen in the I North Circle K Friday night. 1 Agencies investigating the killing include the Grand County Sheriff's " Dept., the Utah Highway Patrol, Moab Police and the FBI. |
